The standardised average rent in existing tenancies in Kilkenny currently stands at €935 whilst the standardised average rent in new tenancies in Kilkenny currently stands at €1,113.
That’s according to the recently published Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) Q2 2023 Rent Index Report.
The current figure for existing tenancies is actually slightly lower than the previous quarterly report (-0.2%) but is still 2.8% higher than it was this time last year.
Meanwhile, the current figure for new tenancies is up by 1.7% from the previous quarterly report and up by 15.4% year-on-year.
Kilkenny is now one of nineteen counties where the standardised average rents in new tenancies are above €1,000 per month.
Two-bedroom properties comprised the largest share in terms of property size for both new and existing tenancies, followed by three-bedroom properties.
Nationally, the average rent grew year-on-year in both new tenancies (11.6%) and existing tenancies (5.3%).
In all but one county (Roscommon), average rents for existing tenancies grew more slowly year-on-year than for new tenancies.
