Dog shelter in Kilkenny makes plea for help as they hit capacity before Christmas

Carlow/Kilkenny Dog Shelter

Carlow/Kilkenny Dog Shelter, based just outside Paulstown, is currently at full capacity ahead of Christmas.

"We have no spaces left," the shelter said in a recent statement.

"We have another two strays due to come in tomorrow with no kennel space for them and that’s just the ones we know about, no doubt there will be more."

The shelter will have to take these stray dogs and with no kennels left and will also have to find homes for the dogs that have completed their five days.

Unfortunately, some of the dogs at the shelter have been there for weeks, some even for months.

"We try and do our best for every dog that comes into the shelter but rehoming has slowed down particularly for the bigger dogs and the strays keep coming," the shelter said.

"Please consider offering a shelter dog a home, if interested please call us on 0599726785. If any rescue can please take even one dog we would be most grateful."
