Social welfare payments (File Photo)
Over 1.3 million social welfare recipients are set to receive a double payment in January, just a matter of weeks after the Christmas bonus was paid.
People who qualify for 32 different social welfare schemes will automatically receive an extra payment in the week beginning January 29.
These measures were announced as part of Budget 2024 which marked a record allocation to the Department of Social Protection to the tune of €2.3bn.
If you are in receipt of one of the following payments, you can look forward to the double payment in the new year:
Back to Education Allowance – people coming from jobseeker’s payments need to be getting the allowance for at least 12 months (312 days), but you may be able to use your time on your jobseeker’s payment to help you qualify.
