The Wemyss family from Bennettsbridge were thrilled to meet world champion boxer Katie Taylor recently.
They met the multiple title holder in Portlaoise Boxing Club where their grandad, Pat Ryan, is attached to the club.
He is a former coach of Taylor as he spent 13 years assisting the High Performance Unit in the IABA Boxing Council.
Pat coached Taylor alongside her dad Pete for over six years and also coached TJ Doheny, who has also gone on to win a world championship in the sport. Ryan is a former President of Irish Amateur Boxing Association.
Eoin Wemyss is married to Nadia, Pat’s daughter and the family and their children, Tadhg, Cathal and Oisin were lucky enough to meet and have their pictures taken with Katie.
