First Responder volunteers are needed in one Kilkenny town

The group is now on the lookout for volunteers in 2024

First Responder volunteers respond to 50 calls in one Kilkenny town

In 2023 the Callan First Responder volunteers responded to 50 emergency calls. Since going live in May 2022, the fully trained volunteers have responded to over 80 calls, all within a 5km radius of Callan. Once a 999/112 emergency call is made in the community, the National Ambulance Service (NAS) dispatch the Ambulance and CFR simultaneously.

They respond to cardiac arrest, chest pain and stroke calls. The community first responders are on scene within minutes and provide care until the Ambulance arrives.

Now Callan First Responders are seeking local volunteers to join the group to ensure they can maintain this service. Medical background is not essential as full certified training will be given. Driving licence is essential. Details can be emailed to: callanfirstresponders@gmail.com or people can contact the Facebook page.
