Garda convoy deployed as 'exceptional load' is transported to Belview Port in Kilkenny

Motorists in parts of County Kilkenny are being advised that a major roads policing operation will take place this Thursday evening and over the next four evenings to facilitate the transportation of an 'exceptional load' to Belview Port.

Gardai have posted video footage and photos from Wednesday night on social media when the first trucks transporting the load made their way from Clonmel in Co. Tipperary to Belview Port in Kilkenny.

"In a roads policing operation carried out by Kilkenny and Waterford units our lads escorted an 'exceptional load' from Clonmel to Belview Port this evening via Kilkenny," said a spokesperson who confirmed the operation will be repeated for the next five evenings, including this Thursday.

"All went to plan with the cooperation of motorists and some extremely talented hauliers," read a post on social media.

To ensure the safety of motorists and other road users, gardai are travelling in convoy with the haulage vehicles as they make their way across the three counties.

While all roads will remain open, traffic may be restricted at certain locations for short periods of time as the convoy is passing.
