Gardaí in Kilkenny are encouraging local drivers to make some New Year resolutions in relation to their driving that could save lives in 2025.
"Our Donegal colleagues compiled these New Year resolutions after a devastating 2024 with 18 lives lost on their roads. We've had our fair share of tragedies too, let's make 2025 a better one," a garda spokesperson stated on social media.

Resolutions:
* Slow down. Speed kills.
* Belt up! Wear your seatbelt and ensure that your passengers do too.
* Never drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
* Do not use/hold a mobile phone while driving.
* Ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before travelling.
* Ensure that you are visible to motorists while out walking or cycling.
"Let’s all resolve to help save lives in 2025 by making road safety a top priority," gardaí added.
