Concern as Kilkenny motorists are missing major road exit

The issue was raised by Cllr Pat Dunphy at the most recent meeting of Piltown Municipal District in South Kilkenny

Concern as Kilkenny motorists continue to miss motorway exit

Many motorists from Kilkenny who use the Waterford City Bypass are missing the exit to the Waterford Outer Ring Road due to 'inadeqaute lighting', according to Cllr Pat Dunphy.

Cllr Dunphy raised the issue at the most recent meeting of Piltown Municipal District, where he stated that due to current lighting conditions, the exit is 'easy to miss'.

He enquired about the existing light poles and associated infrastructure on the exit, which he says were 'switched off' around October 2023.

"If you pass that exit by mistake you have to keep going on then as far as Kilmeaden," he said.

"The other side of the road is okay and well-illuminated but the side coming from Kilkenny after paying the toll is causing an issue.

"Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) need to be made aware of the issue."
