BREAKING: Permission granted for major new commercial building in Kilkenny

Arrowdell Ltd have been granted planning permission for the provision of a motor sales and service facility on a 1.163 hectare site adjacent to the Waterford Road, Kilkenny Business Park, Springhill, Kilkenny City.

The development is set to include a single-storey motor sales showroom and service workshop facility (gross floor area of 1,713 sq m) and a single-storey motor valeting and wash facility, solely for use as part of the vehicle serving business (total gross floor area of 350 sq m).

The plans also include: Illuminated signage on the building facades; two free-standing double-sided illuminated pylon sign; three flag poles with double-sided flags; realignment of the existing site entrance, customer and staff car parking; bicycle parking; new and used vehicle display parking; vehicle storage area and service parking; electric vehicle charging points; associated lighting; hard and soft landscaping including the provision of boundary treatments; SUDs measures; associated site servicing (foul and surface water drainage and water supply); and all other site excavation and development works above and below ground.

The application was originally lodged to Kilkenny County Council on July 16, 2024. The local authority subsequently requested further information from the applicant on various aspects of the proposal.

This further information was submitted by the applicant last month and the local authority decided to grant planning permission, subject to 11 conditions, on March 21, 2025.
