Benny McDonagh (centre) was always surrounded by his loved ones
Much-loved Kilkenny community man Benny McDonagh passed away on Sunday as he was 'listening to his favourite music and surrounded by his favourite people'.
In May 2024, Benny (who was preparing to contest the local elections in the Piltown Municipal District for the Green Party) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
His life and the lives of those in his family were turned upside down by the diagnosis, but Benny's community and wider circle of friends and loved ones ensured that they rallied around him in his most difficult times.
