Pleas made to end 'divisive matter' hurting some Kilkenny communities

Independent, Cllr Maurice Shortall  has called on Kilkenny County Council ask the Minister for Housing, Local Government and  Heritage, James Browne to publish an update of the planning guidelines for wind turbine development.

In a motion set to be put forward at Monday's Plenary meeting of Kilkenny County Council, the North Kilkenny representative said: "This has been held in reserve since 2006 and has been a divisive matter in communities across the country and needs to be published now not only for  the benefit of Kilkenny but for the benefit of the entire country."

Kilkenny Live has previously reported on a wind farm proposal in the Kilmanagh, Ballycallan, Tullaroan areas which caused large scale discontent in those local communities.
