Arán Artisan Bakery and Bistro in Kilkenny City have been announced as the 'Leinster Winner' in the 'Best Contemporary Irish Cuisine' category at the Irish Restaurant Awards 2025.

Co-owners Bart Pawlukojć and Nicole Server-Pawlukojć recently celebrated five years in business at Arán - located on Barrack Street in Kilkenny City.

Although they come from different culinary backgrounds, Bart and Nicole join forces right here in Kilkenny at Arán Bakery & Bistro to bring a taste of what they’ve learned from all over the world.

“Arán Bakery & Bistro is our creative outlet that allows us to make top-quality food accessible to everyone,” Bart explains.

“We aim to make simple, yet delicious dishes made from local ingredients that everyone can enjoy in our restaurant.”

Reacting to the win on social media, Arán stated that they were 'buzzing'.

The statement continues: "This is huge for us and honestly, it wouldn’t be possible without our absolute legends of a team.

"Every single one of our bakery and restaurant crew puts so much heart into what we do here at Arán. This one’s for them.

"And of course, massive love to all of you who eat with us, support us, cheer us on and have made our bakery and restaurant dreams come to life - you’re a big part of this win too.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!"

Before the couple founded their premises on Barrack Street, every single business person advised them against it, but they took the gamble.

After defying the odds, Arán is now a vital part of the social scene of Barrack Street and has helped breathe new life into the area.

Major renovations were recently completed to the Bistro, allowing even more people to savour the award-winning food on the premises.
