The My Lovely Horse Rescue were forced to travel nearly two hours to assist An Garda Síochána Kilkenny care for a poor mare who was found in distressed state.
"This country is so broken, animals are crying out for help. This girl did nothing wrong except exist," a spokesperson for the group said.
"Thank you to the gardai involved, so compassionate towards the welfare of this emaciated lady.

"We are exhausted and overwhelmed but will never give up," they added.
