The election itself will take place on Friday, October 24 and will determine who will be the tenth president of the country since the foundation of the State.

To run for Áras, a candidate must receive 20 nominees from Oireachtas members or receive the support of four county councils.
To be eligible, a candidate must be 35 years of age or older.
