PICTURES: Relay for Life Kilkenny raise 'incredible' sum in battle against cancer

The local event welcomed hundreds of people to the Foulkstown grounds in June

Kilkenny Rugby Club hosted Relay For Life Kilkenny in June - a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society that also remembers all those who have passed away from cancer.

The fundraiser is the biggest cancer fundraising initiative across the world. It sees communities across the globe coming together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and stand shoulder to shoulder with those facing cancer.

Earlier this week, many of those involved gathered at the Orchard House for the cheque presentation, raising an 'incredible' €46,269.

"Every step, every lap, every donation, and every moment of support brought us here. This community never ceases to amaze," a spokesperson for the charity said.

"Thank you to everyone who walked, fundraised, and gave so generously together, we are making a real difference!," they added.
