Councillors in North Kilkenny have issued fresh calls to carry out a review of the existing speed limit on the N78 at Ballyhemmin in Castlecomer, including at Ballycomey past the GAA grounds as part of an overall process to lower the speed limit in the area.
"People just come over the hill at the cottages and just fly down the road,” Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick said.

"We had a tragedy there a number of years ago and we don’t want to see anymore but we really need to get this section of road reduced and the only we can do that is to do it through the TII in consultation with An Garda Síochana and the council staff," he added.
Cllr Fitzpatrick, Cllr Maurice Shortall and Cllr John Brennan are to meet with the relevant authorities on the matter.
