Widespread celebration as Kilkenny woman reaches 100th birthday

There has been widespread celebration in Castlecomer over recent days as Treasa Quinn of Barrack Street became the town's very own centenarian.

Treasa celebrated her 100th birthday with her family on Saturday beginning with Mass celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with refreshments afterwards in the Avalon House Hotel.

Treasa has been an integral and respected member of the community for many years, both in business and leisure. A former long-standing member of Castlecomer Golf Club she ran the kitchen in the clubhouse where her culinary skills were legendary.

Treasa also was proprietor of a drapery shop on Kilkenny Street where she was so understanding to numerous customers in their hour of need. Here’s to 101!
