Following the announcement that Route 817 is being discontinued from January 1, Cllr Michael McCarthy has informed Kilkenny Live that 817 is now being replaced by Route 897 after a tendering service where Bernard Kavanagh was the successful operator.
The new service will be from Kilkenny City to Athy.
Cllr McCarthy says it will involve four trips each day from Monday to Saturday and three each way on Sundays with stops at Castlecomer, Moneenroe, Crettyard, Newtown Cross, Killeshin, Carlow, Ballickmoyler, Arles, Ballylynan and Athy Train Station.
