ALERT: Food product recalled due to presence of toxins

Schär gluten free crispbread recalled as per FSAI warning

A recall of a gluten free food product has been issued, as a risk to human health has been identified.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have issued a recall of the Schär Gluten Free Fibre Crispbread due to the possible presence of atropine and scopolamine.

The batch number is 306520, with the best before date being 06/03/2024. The product size is 124g, origins being Italy.

Atropine and scopolamine are toxins, which are naturally occurring in some plants.

As such, they can contaminate some cereals, due to their presence among the crop at harvest time.

The FSAI have alerted customers that notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.
