A Christmas tree, apron and chewing gum are among the symbols presented at Nicole Murphy's funeral.
Mourners packed St John the Baptist Church and the streets outside as the funeral mass of 18-year-old Nicole began today (August 31).
Rosary beads, a concertina and bread and wine were other gifts presented at the mass.
The symbols represent her love of Christmas, baking, music and performing music, and strong faith.
The church was reportedly at capacity when the mass - concelebrated by Father Brian Power and Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan - began, with Nicole's many loved ones gathered to say goodbye.
Several public representatives are also present, including President Michael D Higgins, Mayor Richie Molloy, Minister Norma Foley, and the Taoiseach's Aide-de-Camp Commandant Claire Mortimer.
The Gospel has been proclaimed by Father John Treacy, Parish Priest of Saints Peter & Paul’s Church in Clonmel, and school chaplain of Loreto Secondary School, which Nicole attended.
Family members Zoe Murphy and Billy Murphy are expected to read.
