Over €21,000 worth of drugs and a firearm seized by gardaí in search

GARDAÍ HAVE seized in excess of €21,000 suspected drugs and seized a firearm as part of a day of action in the Dublin Metropolitan Region West on Wednesday. 
 
Gardaí attached to the Ronanstown Drugs Unit within the Lucan District, carried out a search at a location in Ronanstown on Wednesday, October 11.
 
Over the course of this search, gardaí seized over €21,000 in drugs. Diamorphine with an estimated street value of €10,500, cocaine worth €9,170, dalmaine tablets with a value of €1,400 and a small quantity of cannabis was seized.

A firearm was also seized along with a quantity of ammunition.
 
All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis and the firearm will undergo analysis at the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau.
 
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing. 

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy..

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
