'It's really urgent' - Selling vapes to kids will soon be illegal as Dáil votes tonight

The Dáil is set to vote on legislation banning the sale of vaping products to children.

Representatives will vote on the Public Health (Tobacco Products and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Bill 2023 this evening (November 8) at approximately 8pm.

According to the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, the legislation is "really urgent".

In a video posted on X, he stated, "Tonight is an important step, it's an important public health measure. We want to have these vapes banned in terms of being sold to children as quickly as possible."

Donnelly also stated he hopes to see disposable vapes banned "outright".

When passed, it will then be considered by the Seanad and President Michael D Higgins.

A public consultation on a second piece of legislation regarding flavours and colours of vapes will also be launched at Christmas.
