An Irish animal rescue has expressed fury after a puppy was discovered tied to the door of a Dublin off-licence.
According to My Lovely Horse Sanctuary (MLHS), the eight to nine month old dog was found abandoned last night (December 3) at the Carry Out off-licence in Clondalkin.
Two young men were reportedly seen running from the scene.
In a statement posted to their Facebook page, an MLHS spokesperson said, "[The] poor little mite was terrified. Thankfully the lovely guy working at the off-licence took her in, MLHR Sara got there quickly with her scanner to see if chipped and make sure she was safe for the night."
The rescue - which suspects the puppy may be pregnant - confirmed she is on her way to their vet.
They continued: "We have never witnessed this amount of dogs needing serious help ever. We honestly have not got the room or resources for so many poor dogs but we will NOT ignore this awful situation.
"MLHR are working from morning till late at night, we just can’t stop, [there are] so many animals in dire straights."
The animal charity is encouraging anyone interested in supporting them to do so by donating, raising awareness or fostering.
"We ask that you please support us, we can’t keep this up without public help," they said.
