Revenue officers have seized almost €600,000 of tobacco products at Dublin Port as part of an intelligence-led operation.
With the assistance of Revenue’s mobile x-ray scanner and detector dog Milo, approximately 1,050 kgs of chewing tobacco and 24 kgs of tobacco were seized at at Dublin Port on Thursday, March 21, with an estimated value of approximately €597,300.
The illicit tobacco was discovered within a consignment when Revenue officers examined an unaccompanied trailer arriving from Rotterdam, via the Czech Republic.
Investigations are ongoing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products.
