Met Eireann warns of damaging winds as Storm Kathleen set to hit Ireland hard
A Status Yellow wind warning remains in place for three counties as strong gusts continue from Storm Kathleen with more unsettled weather on the way.
Met Éireann has warned that there may be damage to already weakened structures after high winds on Saturday.
The national forecaster warns of some fallen trees and difficult travel conditions.
Counties Donegal, Mayo and west Galway were issued with a further warning from 8pm last night until 4pm today.
Met Éireann has also warned of debris, coastal flooding and wave overtopping.
A gale warning remains in place for all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea until 2pm today.
South to southwest winds will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9, according to Met Éireann.
There is the potential for isolated hail or even thunder in some regions, according to forecasts.
Met Éireann has also forecast that temperatures could drop to as low as 2C overnight.
Today will be quite windy with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds, very strong in the northwest where gales or strong gales will persist near coasts, according to Met Éireann.
There will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers, some heavy with isolated hail and thunder possible. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, are forecast.
Winds will ease early tonight and showers will become isolated, mainly affecting the northwest and west. However cloud will increase from the south overnight and rain will extend over much of southern parts of Munster and south Leinster. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees are forecast with winds becoming light southerly or variable.
Rain will extend to most areas during Monday morning.
