Man stabbed to death in Kerry laid to rest

His body was found in Knockanure

Young dad stabbed in Kerry named locally

The 44-year-old man who died in Knockanure, Co Kerry, after being stabbed has been laid to rest.

Gerard Kennelly, aged 44, was discovered by Gardai and emergency services with fatal injuries on Sunday night.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was later removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry for a post-mortem.

It is believed Mr Kennelly was stabbed several times during the incident. 

Mr Kennelly was laid to rest on Friday at Corpus Christi Church, Knockanure, at 11.15 am, with the Requiem Mass being celebrated at 11.30 am, followed by burial afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.

Gerard Kennelly will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken family, his mother Sheila, father Jerry and his partner Anne, daughter Miya, brothers Thomas and John, sisters Mairead and Julie, uncles Paddy and Tom, aunts Marguerite, Kathleen and Joan, brothers-in-law Ger and Shane, sister-in-law Gina, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

A man in his 30s has appeared at a special sitting of Listowel District Court and was charged with the manslaughter of 44-year-old Gerard Kennelly.
