Kilkenny coach takes Ireland to TWO Supreme World Champion Ploughing crowns

On a weekend of international sporting highs and lows, one of the biggest achievements on the world stage was masterminded by a Kilkenny man!

Brian Ireland, from Danesfort, was the coach for the Irish team that took part in the 68th World Ploughing Championships in Latvia - and took home two Supreme World Championship titles!

Eamonn Tracey from Carlow took the Supreme World Champion title in the Conventional Class and John Whelan from Wexford in the new Supreme World Champion in the Reversible Class.

At the National Ploughing Championships, in Ratheniska, Co Laois, last month, Brian tied for first in his competition class, while in the Under 28 class the winner was local man PJ Hartley.
