Kells Priory
Kells has probably seen the biggest increase in visitors numbers in Kilkenny, local Councillor Matt Doran has said.
Plans are now in place to enhance the Kings River loop walk.
However, Cllr Doran said, the Mill is ‘unique but congested.’ “We have done everything to improve parking, there has to be a way to make it better,” Cllr Doran said, asking for the council’s help in improving the area.
“Incredible numbers are coming, even before Covid,” Cllr Doran said.
Cllr Joe Lyons asked if extra lighting could be installed around the Mill and car park.
Frank Stafford, senior engineer, said lighting and parking was outside the scope of this ORIS funding. In planning lighting they would also have to consider wildlife and light pollution.
