Kilkenny woman greets Taoiseach at opening of Irish Consulate in Miami

A Kilkenny woman hosted Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at the official opening of the Irish Consulate in Florida, yesterday.

Galmoy's Sarah Kavanagh has recently taken up the newly-created post of Irish Consul based in Miami, Florida. She is the daughter of Kilkenny County Councillor Mary Hilda Cavanagh.

On Thursday, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was in Miami to formally open the new Consulate, now it has scaled up operations to take over all of its territories and expand its services.

The Taoiseach had several meetings and a highlight of events was a reception for the community and partners. Among the attendees were former Kilkenny senior hurler JJ Delaney and his wife Aisling, who have just moved to Miami and Cuffesgrange man Manus Walsh.
