The chief broker of the Good Friday Agreement, Senator George Mitchell, was interviewed recently in Miami by Ireland’s Consul General, Sarah Kavanagh (who is from Galmoy), as part of a Consulate project to mark 25 years since the Agreement. The interview was shown at a special screening in Miami on 13 December. Pictured above is Sarah, Sen. Mitchell and Kay Walsh, who is from Cuffesgrange.
Sarah Kavanagh has recently taken up the newly-created post of Irish Consul based in Miami, Florida. She is the daughter of Kilkenny County Councillor Mary Hilda Cavanagh.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was in Miami to formally open the new Consulate, now it has scaled up operations to take over all of its territories and expand its services. On the occasion he was joined by more Kilkenny natives, including former Kilkenny senior hurler JJ Delaney and his wife Aisling, who have just moved to Miami and Cuffesgrange man Manus Walsh.
