The passing-out parade for new Garda recruits was held in Templemore on Friday. Among the 165 brand new members of An Garda Síochána was Conor Normoyle, Maryville in Castlecomer. The Co Kilkenny native will take up duties in Wicklow Town.
And there was a second Castlecomer connection with Conor Shortall, Kenmare also graduating - his father Tom Shortall hails from Upper Aughamuckey. Shortall has been assigned to the Bridewell, Dublin.
