Easter Commemoration takes place at the Square in Freshford

Tricolour is race and Proclamation is read

KILKENNY

The annual Easter Commemoration was held on the Square in Freshford on Sunday, with a good crowd in attendance.

The Proclamation was read by Ali Rafter and a wreath was laid while the Tricolour was raised by Michael Burke.
There was also a variety of songs and readings. Gillian Queally gave a beautiful rendition of Grace, accompanied by Gary on guitar. MC on the day was John Meagher.

Local councillor Michael McCarthy thanked a number of people including the committee who organised the event and various people for their participation including photographers and all who provided memorabilia, flag and wreath. MEP Billy Kelleher and TD Jackie Cahill were in attendance on the day which closed with Amhran na bhFiann by PJ Norton. Refreshments were provided in the hall.

On Saturday a very successful cabaret was held in Kavanagh’s Bar. Seamus Bergin thanked all for their support and attendance. Winners of raffle and door prizes on the night were Michael Brophy, Jack Whitty, Declan Buggy, Joe Dermody, John McGrath, James Burke, Michael Cass. Door prize: Katie McArdle, Jim Hayes.
