Water restrictions are to be introduced
Overnight restrictions are to be implemented in the Castlecomer area over the coming nights to maintain a daytime supply for the community.
Uisce Eireann says that due to raw water shortage, nighttime restrictions are in place from 9pm to 9am until August 22. Homes and businesses are being asked to be mindful of their water usage to allow supply to catch up with demand.
Communities in the following areas may experience outages, discolouration or reduced pressure: Clogh, Ardra, Massford, Moneenroe, Coolbawn and Castlecomer. Customers should allow three to four hours after the estimated restoration time for supply to fully return.

“We understand the inconvenience that restrictions cause, but with current low water levels, they are necessary to maintain a daytime supply," said Uisce Éireann’s Jim Fitzgerald. "We continue to monitor reservoir levels and thank the local community for their patience.”
“The regular network flushing we have been carrying out to alleviate discolouration has been restricted due to the current severe water shortage but we will continue to monitor the situation.”
Uisce Éireann advises customers not to drink discoloured water. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour.
