There’s a rare opportunity to visit a pristine Kilkenny stream this week

A stretch of the Dinin River

The Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) and Nore Vision are providing an opportunity to see Kilkenny’s only blue dot stream at 10am in Muckalee this Thursday.

The stream is part of the Dinan subcatchment and is among the best water quality in the Nore Catchement. Blue dot waters have the highest ecological quality of all waters and often a greater diversity of species that are sensitive to pollution.

Led by LAWPRO Citizen Scientist Ed Cox, participants will take part in a kick sample and learn about river ecology, living networks and the value of community water stewardship.

Streams and rivers face growing pressures, making the protection of special waters more important than ever.

All are welcome to attend and people wishing to do so should meet at Muckalee Cafe and can contact maura@norevision.ie or 086 310 4008 for more details.
