Cllr Michael McCarthy at Freshford Health Centre
Planning permissions has been granted for a range of works to significantly improve Freshford Health Centre.
Local councillors Michael McCarthy says it’s a significant boost for health care in the area and the facility, where more than 500 people are treated weekly.
“The schedule of works involves a single-storey extension, adjustment of the vehicular entrance, alterations to the car park layout with the provision of additional spaces, upgrading of the existing waste-water treatment infrastructure plus ancillary relations works at the centre,” he said.
The good news comes two years after Cllr McCarthy invited the then Minister of Health Stephen Donnelly to Freshford.
“This is a fantastic boost for the community of Freshford and the large surrounding hinterland,” said Cllr McCarthy. “I am particularly delighted for the Beckett family who have given trojan service to the area for over four decades and who have campaigned for improvements to the health centre over all those years. Tender documents will now be prepared and a contractor appointed. I anticipate work will commence shortly.” TAP HERE FOR MORE NEWS FROM NORTH KILKENNY
