The official opening of the newly refurbished Ballyouskill Hall was on June 8th.

The evening commenced with Mass celebrated by Fr. Eamon O’Gorman P.P. Ballyragget in the presence of  probably the entire population of the area.

The wonderful singing of Ballyragget Parish Choir enhanced the Liturgy. Chairman of Ballyouskill Hall Committee Noel Cummins thanked all who contributed to the success first of all the local community who got behind the project from day one, Kilkenny County Council for a grant of £45K ; Kilkenny Leader Partnership for a grant of £80K ; local builder John Staunton of McStan Ltd for a magnificent job carried out with efficiency ; and his fellow hard working committee members with a special word for meticulous Secretary Therese Glennon.

“Today the hall is a hive of activity and hopefully a catalyst to sustain rural regeneration in the years ahead.” Said Mr. Cummins.

Following the blessing by Fr. Eamon the official opening and ribbon cutting was performed jointly by Maurice Shortall and Angela Campion (KLP) who has both assisted together with Lindsey Butler of Kilkenny County Council  in the delivery of funding for the project.
