The death has occurred of Anne (Nan) Pierce (née Holmes), Cloudmount (29 January 1927- 28 July 2018).
She went to her eternal reward peacefully, in her 92nd Year, in the remarkable care of Beechwood Nursing Home, Leighlinbridge, County Carlow. Nan had a deep appreciation of the kindness shown to her over many years.
She was blessed with a crystal clear mind and will be fondly remembered for her generosity and of course her favourite, the cigarette Silk Cut to be precise, 40 a day. Cloudmount was her first and last home in between she lived in Cork then Wexford where she ran a hard ware store with her late husband Stephen Pierce.
A woman who always called a spade a spade and everyone knew exactly where they stood with her. The removal was to St. Mary's Church, Castlecomer for a Service of Reception officiated at by her nephew Rev. Bruce Pierce, St. Lukes Training Centre, Cork. The Funeral Service at Saint Paul's Church, Balloughton, County Wexford was officiated by Rev. Bruce Pierce, St. Lukes Training Centre, Cork assisted by Canon Arthur Minion, Rector of Wexford and Kilscoran Union of Parishes and was followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.
Nan will be greatly missed by her sister Eileen Dando (New Zealand) ; nieces, nephews, and wider family, neighbours and by her many friends in Wexford, Carlow, and Kilkenny.
