A new chapter in the history of squash playing in Kilkenny begins this week as Kilkenny Squash Club opens the doors to its new home.
Following months of uncertainty, and, at times, fears the club would have to be wound up after 55 years, a local school has come to the rescue and provided playing courts.
Kilkenny Squash Club will now be based at St Kieran’s College.
Following a club EGM, last week, which saw a great turnout of members, the news was revealed.
A few days later it was all hands on deck as members pulled together to get the courts tidied up and ready for action. The club committee was delighted with the turnout at the EGM, following three years with no squash in the city.
Members are excited to get the club going again, after the long Covid break, and aim to get back to pre-Covid levels when they had nine box leagues running every month, accommodating all levels of skill, from beginners to experienced.
The club will be accepting new members in the coming weeks. For more information contact kilkennysquash club@gmail.com
