The Kilkenny College first year schoolgirls’ team captured the Leinster Schoolgirls 1st Year Cup - and did not concede a single goal across the entire campaign!

Kilkenny College made history this week as their first year schoolgirls’ team captured the Leinster Schoolgirls 1st Year Cup, securing the first title of its kind for the school after an outstanding campaign.

The team produced a remarkable run throughout the competition, facing strong opposition from schools across Leinster while maintaining a flawless defensive record.

In an extraordinary achievement, Kilkenny College did not concede a single goal across the entire campaign.

Their success was built on relentless work rate, impressive team skill, and months of disciplined preparation.

From the opening round to the final whistle of the decider, the squad demonstrated composure, unity, and determination well beyond their years.

The decisive moment came in front of goal. After a well-worked short corner created pressure in the circle, the ball found its way to the back of the net to secure the victory.

Behind the scenes, the team benefited from excellent guidance from head coach Elmer Dool, supported by assistant coach Eric Comerford.

Their focus on teamwork, structure, and consistent training laid the foundation for the team’s historic triumph.

Alexandra College were great opponents and Kilkenny’s victory was by the smallest of margins. There was very little between the sides.
