Dads and Lads hurling teams from across Ireland descended on the National Sports Campus, Abbotstown over the weekend for the annual national blitz where once-upon-a-time hurlers rekindled their love for the game.
Teams from around the country including Kilkenny's Erin's Own and former Kilkenny selector Martin Fogarty, Kilcullen from Kildare, Clare's Sixmilebridge, Cuala, Naomh Olaf and St James's Gaels An Caisleán from Dublin, Antrim and more togged out for the social hurling programme for those keen to enjoy Gaelic Games outside the traditional competitive structures of the GAA.

Participants include recently retired or lapsed adult players, and, to a lesser degree, new entrants to Gaelic Games looking to try hurling or football for the first time.
The philosophy of GAA for Dads & Lads is all about participation and the camaraderie that only team sports can offer. The small-sided adapted games allow for incidental contact only (to minimise any risk of injury) so skills are to the fore over physicality.
