The Castlecomer community said farewell to their friend and colleague, Donald Lalor at a special retirement event earlier this week.
"Donal's easy manner belied an exceptionally competent and respected policeman. The job and the community will miss your invaluable contribution," Kilkenny gardaí posted to social media.
"Sergeant Lalor first entered the gates of Templemore in June 1991 and has left a lasting impression on everywhere he's served.
"Don't be a stranger Donie," they concluded.
