Heat wave fun on the riverbank - reminder to stay safe in the river!

Is there anywhere more gorgeous than Ireland in the sunshine? Even better - Kilkenny in the sunshine!

As the country enjoys a heatwave, crowds are flocking to the best places to keep cool across Kilkenny - including our rivers! 

In fact, it is so lovely on the banks of the Barrow in Graignamanagh today that the town has been renamed 'Costa del Graig' by local TD Peter 'Chap' Cleere! Scroll down to continue reading and click the arrows above to see more photographs!

"Graignamanagh is the capital of fun in the South East," boasted the proud local TD as he welcomed everyone to the town. Along with swimming in the river, where there is a lifeguard on duty, the town offers boating, hydrobikes and a hot box (sauna) experience.

However, Deputy Cleere reminded people to stay safe while enjoying the local beauty spots. "Even though the weather is brilliant, mind yourselves," he said, endorsing the water safety messages issued earlier this week.

"It's like Spain. I've never seen the place as packed on a Friday afternoon. The town looks brilliant," he added.
