Kilkenny TD John McGuinness has told Kilkenny Live the return of North-West Kilkenny to the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency will be a 'main item on the agenda' when he returns to government.

The Fianna Fáil representative has served as a TD for the past 27 years and regained his seat on the eleventh count of the General Election 2024 late on Sunday evening.

The Kilkenny City candidate topped the poll with a vote of 12,049 votes, surpassing the quota of 11,627.

"It'll be a main item on the agenda after we get the country looked after first with a government but I think that bizarre decision has to be revisited and Kilkenny will have to be looked at as a unit and county," he said.

"County boundaries should not be breached at all," McGuinness added.
