Kilkenny

The Taste Kilkenny Night Market will showcase over 100 artisan food producers and street food vendors

Kilkenny is among nine select cities in Ireland chosen to participate in the Night-Time Economy pilot programme, an initiative designed to extend the city’s vibrant activities into the evening hours.

This year, Savour Kilkenny will make history with its first-ever late-night market on Saturday, October 26. Extending its hours until 9pm, the Taste Kilkenny Night Market will showcase over 100 artisan food producers and street food vendors from across Ireland, offering a feast of flavours, live cookery demonstrations, informative talks, and captivating live music.

Adding to the evening's excitement, one of Ireland’s most beloved tribute bands, Abbaesque, will light up Kilkenny Castle Park with a performance at 6.30pm. Abbaesque performed at this year’s Taste of Dublin and the fourth of July celebrations at the US Ambassador’s Residence in the Phoenix Park.

For those with a passion for craft beverages, the Craft Brewers and Distillers Marquee will remain open until 8.30pm. This marquee will be your prime destination for exceptional craft beers, spirits, and live music. It offers a unique opportunity to meet the dedicated producers behind your favourite drinks and to delve into the stories of the unique grains, grapes, and brewing techniques that bring these beverages to life.

“As part of the survey feedback from the public on our night time economy, the top priority requested from the public was the introduction of a night market. Taste Kilkenny and Kilkenny County Council were successful in receiving funding to stage a night market under the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Innovation and Development Fund. We are delighted to partner with Savour Kilkenny to incorporate a night market into their extensive programme. I would encourage everyone to join us that night and support out local food and beverage sector.”

Marian Flannery, Savour Kilkenny Food Festival Manager, said: “As part of Kilkenny’s Night-Time Economy Initiative, we’re thrilled to extend the Savour Kilkenny Market’s hours on Saturday, October 26. The Fiesta of Food will evolve into an evening of lively, family-friendly festivities, complete with street entertainment and a live performance from our favourite Abba tribute act. We anticipate a wonderfully vibrant and enjoyable night on The Parade."
