Scenes of joy at Kilkenny school as students celebrate Leaving Cert results

The Kilkenny City Vocational School (KCVS) has paid tribute to the Leaving Cert Class of 2024 who received their results earlier today (Friday).

In a statement to Kilkenny Live, KCVS Principal, Cathy McSorley, said: "Well done to all our students who received their results this morning and a big thank you to our wonderful staff, both teachers and SNAs who facilitated this."

"Your tireless efforts, patience, and commitment have made a significant difference in the lives of these young people, helping them reach their full potential. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and look forward to seeing them continue to thrive,"

A significant number of the school's students achieved over 480 points and the vast majority of Leaving Cert Applied (LCA) students achieved distinctions, with one student achieving an impressive 550 points.

Assistant Principal, Assessment and Attainment Coordinator, Deirdre Costigan acknowledged the huge efforts of all the staff and thanked them for their continued implementation of whole school improvement strategies in their classrooms.

"The benefits of collaboration and collegiality within the whole team are certainly evident today," she commented.

KCVS students are now excitedly moving forward on their individual education and career paths to University and further education and the city school is particularly proud that this year a higher percentage of their students are taking up KCETB Apprenticeship Courses.

The school concluded by stating: "Congratulations once again to our Leaving Cert students and a big thank you to all those who supported them along the way."
