Six Kilkenny schools named by Scoping Inquiry report into historical sexual abuse

A number of Kilkenny schools run by religious orders have been named by the Scoping Inquiry into historical sexual abuse.

The report published by the Irish Independent features a list of primary and secondary schools and special schools across the country against which allegations have been made.

Schools in the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy across the country which included the Sisters of Mercy in Callan accounted for 44 allegations against 33 alleged abusers but individual school statistics have not been provided. 

Locally, 34 allegations were made against 14 alleged abusers in three primary schools, two secondary schools and one special school. See Table Below

The figures presented in the table were supplied to the Scoping Inquiry by the religious orders themselves, in response to requests for a breakdown of numbers.
