Kilkenny City VS students get set for Lourdes pilgrimage in May

Students Sharon McGorrian and Mick Power

Two students from Kilkenny City Vocational School, Mick Power and Sharon McGorrian, have been selected to go on the pilgrimage to Lourdes as part of Ossary Diocese.

Several TY students applied for the privilege to go, thus it made the selection process very difficult. The application process involved students writing a letter of application and then undergoing a thorough interview.

The standard of application and interview were exceptionally high, but in the end, Mick and Sharon topped the class. The school is immensely proud of Mick and Sharon, and wishes them all the best in their preparations for the pilgrimage to Lourdes.

In order to go to Lourdes, the students must raise over €2,000. The students with the help of their teacher Miss Butler have undertaken an extensive fundraising campaign.

Final fundraiser

The successful fundraisers coordinated to date include a bucket collection in Kilkenny City, a Christmas Jumper day and a Last Man Standing Competition. The students have raised €2,000 and they are now organising their final fundraiser to get the last €200.

KCVS would like to thank everyone for their support and generous donations towards the pilgrimage to Lourdes. The students and their teacher Miss Butler will attend the Pilgrimage to Lourdes from May 22 – 27.
