The initiative will award a total of 16 scholarships for €2,000 to a sixth year student from each secondary school within the Credit Union’s branch network
St Canice’s Credit Union is once again stepping up to support young people in their educational journey with the return of its annual Scholarship Draw.
The initiative will award a total of 16 scholarships for €2,000 to a sixth year student from each secondary school within the Credit Union’s branch network.
In a time when the cost of further education continues to rise, this scholarship offers a timely and meaningful boost for students preparing to enter college, university or apprenticeship programmes. It is also a welcome relief for parents facing the financial pressures of supporting their child’s next chapter.

What sets this scholarship apart is its accessibility. Unlike many traditional awards based on academic achievement or lengthy applications, the St Canice’s draw is a lottery, giving every eligible student an equal chance to win.
To qualify, students must be members of St Canice’s Credit Union, be enrolling in a full-time course or apprenticeship of at least two years’ duration and be in sixth year at a secondary school within the Credit Union’s common bond area.
Additionally, there is also a scholarship for Leaving Cert student members not attending secondary schools in our branch areas or who completed their Leaving Cert prior to 2025 but are starting a full-time college/university course or apprenticeship for the first time.
DEADLINE
The deadline for entries is September 14, 2025, with winners to be announced shortly afterwards. The scholarship can help ease the financial burden of starting a new course, whether it is covering books, travel, equipment or accommodation. Applications can be submitted online via the Credit Union’s website at stcanicescu.ie.
