A member of Kilkenny Lions Club has been highly commended at the Lions Club Ireland Young Ambassador Competition, held in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise recently, with 11 candidates representing Lions Clubs from around Ireland.
The competition aims to recognise and reward young people who are actively involved in volunteering and supporting their communities. Kilkenny Lions Club was represented by Diana Petrakova, who was highly commended by the judges.
Originally from Kyiv, Diana has carried out outstanding work through Foróige, supporting both Ukrainian and Irish young people by leading initiatives such as a Leadership for Life programme, club activities, and assisting Ukrainian secondary school students with the translation of mathematical terms.

Diana is a Transition Year student at Kilkenny City Vocational School and an active member and volunteer with Foróige, the national youth organisation. The overall winner was Caitlyn Tierney representing Thurles Lions Club.
