Students from Coláiste Pobail Osraí, a school under the patronage of Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB), recently represented their school and the wider Kilkenny community at Muintearas ’26, a national celebration of student voice organised by Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) and held in Galway.

The event brought together students from Irish medium post primary schools across the country to share their vision for the future, explore issues important to young people and express their ideas with confidence through the medium of Irish. Students from Coláiste Pobail Osraí participated in thoughtful discussion and showcased their perspectives at a national level.

A highlight of the event was the opportunity for students to meet the President of Ireland Catherine Connolly, who attended the celebration, spoke with students about their work and presented awards to participating schools. The experience proved to be a memorable and affirming occasion for those involved.

Cathnia Ó Muircheartaigh, Principal of Coláiste Pobail Osraí, said: “We are immensely proud of our students and the way they represented our school and KCETB. Events like Muintearas ’26 give students the opportunity to share their vision for the future and to engage with other schools, and we are committed to supporting them to find and use their voice with confidence.”
